Journey details
Experience one of the highest geothermal fields in the world. We depart early to arrive at sunrise at the Tatio Geysers. We walk among steam columns, enjoy breakfast at Geyser Blanco, and visit the Putana and Machuca wetlands, where we observe highland flora and fauna. Finally, we pass through the picturesque village of Machuca, with its historic church and the chance to try llama meat or goat cheese empanadas.
Itinerary
Pick-up: Pick-up between 5:00 and 5:30 AM from your accommodation. Geysers del Tatio: Free walk around the geothermal field. Time for photos and exploration. Entrance not included $15.000 Desayuno en Geyser Blanco: Very few agencies take travelers to this beautiful river surrounded by geysers — a hidden gem and peaceful spot for breakfast. Putana and Machuca Wetlands: Stops at Vado de Putana and Vado de Machuca to observe flamingos, vicuñas, and other local animals. Machuca Village: Visit to the village with an old church and local gastronomy. Return to San Pedro: Return around 12:30 PM.
Recommendations for your trip
Bring very warm clothing, including thermal layers, hat, gloves, and a windproof jacket. Temperatures can drop well below freezing. Also bring water and sunscreen.
